An orchestra of many colours
Since April 2013, the Dresdner Residenz Orchester has combined a year-round concert series in Dresden’s Zwinger with an active touring schedule. It was founded by violinist and conductor Prof. Igor Malinovsky, who serves as its artistic director.
Its repertoire spans Baroque music, Viennese Classicism and Romanticism through to the modern era. Different ensemble sizes and specially prepared arrangements offer fresh perspectives on major works.
Precision, virtuosity and the attentiveness of chamber music shape the ensemble’s playing. The orchestra also creates opportunities for musical encounters with young artists.
Founder & artistic director
Prof. Igor Malinovsky
Violinist, conductor and teacher. His studies took him to Vienna, Cologne and Zurich, where his teachers included Dora Schwarzberg, Gerald Schulz and Zakhar Bron.
He held concertmaster positions with the Bavarian State Orchestra in Munich, the Komische Oper Berlin and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia. In 2009, he was appointed professor of violin at Dresden’s University of Music.
His international experience as a soloist, concertmaster and teacher informs his work with the orchestra.
